Whenever I open the email account that is used for our sports wagering business there are always a slew of new messages baring titles like these:

If you didn’t know any better you would think that Las Vegas must be strongly considering closing all of their sports books because no business could handle taking those kind of hits
In marketing they use a term called open rate and it references the number of people on your list that open any particular email that you send out
They also use the term click through rate which is also a percentage
This is the number of prospects that clicked on a hyperlink inside the email they opened leading them to one of the sender’s landing pages
Headlines…are a HUGE part of email marketing
Honesty…not so much
Of course that’s why we use the phrase ‘Caveat Emptor’ (which is Latin for “let the buyer beware.”)
It’s pretty easy for us to ignore this massive amount of misinformation
Originally, before beginning our push to create a multi-media outlet 100% focused on the entertainment value of sports betting, we reviewed these “experts”
Our first entry was August 25th 2011 (seems like 4 years went by fast but if you have children then the speed of life is something you’re already used to) on a blog called 8TeamParlay
It was a simple concept
Purchase the picks from these so called “experts”, make bets based on their suggestions then review their picks
Most were a coin flip at best while others were just plain horrible
The whole concept of “tout sheets” is rather comical when you think about it
Opinions and nothing more which are all rendered mute the instant there’s an unexpected injury or Red Zone turnover
No different than the “audio tout sheets” that make up the current state of Sports Betting Radio
Something we’re working hard to change forever
After that maybe we can get Floyd Mayweather, Jr. to post some of his losers on Twitter
