Many people ask me where’s my favorite place for Sports Betting
There’s only one problem when I try to answer that question
It turns into a bit of a rant on the state of legalized Sports Betting in the USA
That’s because we’re unfortunately living in age of very bad leaders
It’s sad that we have 535 of them in Congress and it’s very possible
At least for a short span, a dedicated group of pre-schoolers
Occupying a well run Day Care center could probably get more accomplished
Whatever state you’re in probably isn’t any different
Here in California the State Legislator has been a laughing stock for years now
Look at what happened with Indiana right before the Final Four
So my best place to go when I’m Sports Betting depends on my schedule
And will definitely take more than one post to answer because it’s actually pretty complicated
That’s because living in San Diego gives us something that very few states can claim
Legalized Sports Betting on two different borders
Mexico on the South and Nevada on the West
There is simply nothing better than having your clerk count out a nice fat pile of money when you cash
Cashing, no matter the amount, always beats trashing and it’s really the reason we’re betting
You’re not putting down hard earned money on a bet you think is going to lose
Multiple cashes during the day is a great way to keep your money management in line
There’s something about a room full of bettors all with money on whatever game is on the screen
Since it’s still illegal for Vicky to bet $10 on the Chargers here at home it leaves those two choices
Mexico is close and getting across the border going in is cake
Caliente has multiple Sports Books within walking distance (or a short cab ride) of the border
There are even FREE shuttle buses if you’re not late trying to catch a game that’s starting soon (They run on their own TJ style schedule)
Once you’re at the Caliente Sports Book in the Pueblo Amigo Plaza it’s as pretty good day as you might have
Although the prices have risen over the years it still serves the best breakfast of any sports bar or book that I’ve eaten in (I think Tommy would agree)
There’s a little sea food shop across the way that has some of the freshest fish tacos and their specialty Coctel de Camarones estilo Mexicano includes fresh clams and octopus
Combine any of that menu with a bucket of beers and the fact that the games (and horses or dog races) are on the TVs there too and you can see why it’s such a special day
We’ll spend a good chunk of our visit to Tijuana just sitting at their bar eating, drinking and betting
When you hit a dog race you can run across the patio (or go upstairs as all the sports books work off the same system) cash that ticket and bet a game that’s soon to start and your beer is still cold when you get back
Man do I miss Mexico…not trying to get out of Mexico…that’s a whole other story
